Postmortem Plan

Privacy Notice

Last Updated: May 27, 2026

1. About This Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice describes the privacy practices of Root Pragmatic LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) with respect to postmortemplan.com and its content (the “Service”).

The Service is a free, single-page informational tool. It has no accounts, no login, and no server that receives information you type. This Notice explains the one important exception — third-party advertising — and the limited technical data that any website necessarily processes to load in your browser.

This Notice applies to all visitors regardless of state of residence. Where applicable U.S. state consumer privacy laws (including the California Consumer Privacy Act) or European regulations (the GDPR and UK GDPR) provide additional rights, those are addressed in Sections 6 and 8.

2. The Short Version

What you type, stays with you. Your checklist progress and notes are saved only in your own web browser (using a feature called localStorage). That data is never transmitted to us. We operate no database, account system, or backend that could receive it. Clearing your browser data deletes it; we never had a copy.

The Service shows ads. We display advertising through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies and may collect technical and usage data to serve and measure ads. That activity is described in Section 5 and governed by Google’s own policies.

3. Information You Enter Stays in Your Browser

Everything you do within the Service — checking items off, typing notes, tracking progress — is stored locally in your browser via localStorage. This information:

The Service’s export and import features write and read a file on your own device. We are not involved in, and receive nothing from, an export or import. You are responsible for safeguarding any file you export, because it may contain sensitive personal and financial information about you and others.

Audio narration on the Service is played from pre-recorded files delivered as part of the page; using the play, stop, or repeat controls does not send any information about you to us or to any third party.

4. Information Processed to Deliver the Site

Like every website, the Service must be transmitted to your browser over the internet. It is hosted on Amazon Web Services (Amazon S3 and Amazon CloudFront). To deliver each page and file, our hosting provider necessarily processes standard request data — such as your IP address, browser type, and the time of the request — as a transient part of routing the response to you.

We do not use this delivery data to build profiles, identify you, or contact you, and we do not combine it with anything you type into the Service. Amazon’s handling of such data as our hosting provider is governed by its own terms and privacy commitments.

5. Advertising and Cookies (Google AdSense)

The Service displays third-party advertising through Google AdSense. This is the principal way information is collected in connection with the Service, and it is collected by Google and its advertising partners — not by us.

In connection with serving ads, Google and its partners may:

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to the Service and/or other sites on the internet.

We do not control and are not responsible for the data practices of Google or other advertising participants. Their practices are governed by their own policies, including:

6. Consent and Opt-Out Choices

You have several independent ways to control advertising cookies and data:

7. We Do Not Sell or Share Your Information

Root Pragmatic LLC does not sell your personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not receive the information you enter into the Service, and we do not transfer it to anyone. The advertising activity described in Section 5 is conducted by Google under its own policies; to the extent any such activity constitutes a “sale” or “sharing” under applicable law, your controls for it are the consent and opt-out tools described in Section 6.

8. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, delete, correct, or port personal information, and to opt out of certain advertising activity. Because of how the Service works, these rights largely resolve in your own hands:

If you have a question about your rights that you believe involves us directly, contact us using the information in Section 11.

9. Children

The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Advertising on the Service is not directed to children.

10. Changes to This Privacy Notice

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised Notice on the Service and update the “Last Updated” date above. Material changes take effect when posted.
